While driving down Santa Monica Blvd today, I saw a parking spot about 100 feet ahead. I put my blinker on and slowly pulled over to parallell park into the spot. All of a sudden, I biker was knocking on my passenger side window and boom; over her handlebars she went. Not sure of what to do, I put down the passenger's and yelled, " Are you Ok?". I guess I should have gotten out of the car. Well, i then did the right thing and got out to check on her. She kept repeating she was in the bike lane. She had been in my blind spot when I started to pull over to get the parking spot.
A cop on his Vespa showed up to the scene. He asked what happened, and she told the story. She had seen me with my blinker on and starting to pull over so she braked to avoid an incident. Thankfully she wasn't hurt. I helped put her basket back on her bike, and off she went.
I was given the advice that a good, safe way to let out frustrations is to write down your thoughts. However, I strongly suggest doing this at home, not at work. I accidentally saved my "thoughts" to a public server named, "To What My Life Has Come". After getting laid off/ fired from a job that I hated in Boston, I packed up my life for new and exciting adventures. I was bound for Los Angeles.

Game Show
I got an email from The Groundlings about an audition for a new game show that CBS had in the works. It was being produced by Courtney Cox & David Arquette. The premise of the show is like the “Ten Thousand Dollar Pyramid”. We would have to give clues of famous people from Paris Hilton to Kermit the Frog to Barack Obama.
They were looking for couples (friends, partners, etc) who knew each other well, rather than just acquaintances so that we could play off each other and have personal thoughts and views about some celebrities. This was for the run-through in front of the producers and CBS executives.
After the audition we were asked to come back to do the run-through the next morning. Courtney & David were there with their daughter. They were exactly what I thought they would look like. Courtney looked like she had some work done and David was dressed in his stylish bright colors. Their daughter got really into it and was clapping to cheer on the teams.
At the start of the run-through they ask us how Rusty & I knew each other. Only knowing him for 2 months, we figured we should make something up. "Well, we've know each other for 3 years and we are the life of the party wherever we are. We like to shop and drink too." The host then comes up with a name for our team based on our little introduction interview. We were team "Shop & Drink". During the game we had energy and excitement but however, we didn’t win.
Thankfully it wasn’t for any sort of prize otherwise I would have been pissed!

Discovery of Yogurtland
My friend Chris took me to my first experience at Yogurtland. I'm not a huge fan of ice-cream or frozen yogurt but he talked me into it. You can pick from over 15 flavors of frozen yogurt including Red Velvet, Cheesecake and Graham-cracker. Yum! And then you have a selection of about 50 toppings. They weigh your cup to determine the price. You can get a whole cup full of toppings if you want. That's pretty much what I do, but use a little bit of frozen yogurt to make it all stick together! I love it!
My cup usually comes to about $4. I asked the cashier what was the most expensive cup they had seen. He told me it was about $12.

Looking for some faith
After a conversation with people about religion, spirituality and faith, I thought maybe I should re-visit the idea of going to church. I did a Google search of churches in Los Angeles. The first 2 that came up were Hollywood United Methodist Church and WeHo(West Hollywood)Church. Not really sure what they were I figured I would give them a try before I made any judgments.
Sunday morning I woke up and figured I would drive by the WeHo Church to check it out first since it was closer to my apartment. If I didn't feel it was a good fit, I would then head to Hollywood United Methodist.
I drove to the street that WeHo Church was on and I'm looking, looking and looking for the address. I kept passing it but couldn't find where this "building" was. After a third drive by I found it. It looked like it was a storage facility and the service took place in one of the garage units. This didn't seem like it was for me.
So, I then drove to Hollywood United Methodist. Not really sure what Methodists really are, I thought I'd give it a shot. After finding the church I parked my car and walked through the doors. For this, I would never be the same.
The parishioners were all walks of life. This was a very open and accepting church. Many people looked homeless and others just looked they were trying to “find themselves”. There was one lady who looked like she was going to the Kentucky Derby. The minister and others came up to me and asked if this was my first time here. They welcomed me and were very happy to have new comers. I knew that this wasn’t the church I would be attending, I contemplated about leaving. However, I figured I was here and what else do I have to do today. I decided to stay and watch the show. I was sitting next to a very nice elderly woman who kept to herself. I thought I would be safe sitting next to her. She told me the service was about an hour.
The service started and they asked if they had any first time visitors. About 6 people raised their hands, and then a nice gentleman 2 pews up shouted, “Scott, raise your hand! It’s your first time here!”. They handed out flowers to all of us and warmly welcomed us with a round of applause. This was also Father’s Day. They then asked all the fathers to stand up to be recognized. 12 people stood up and 4 of them were dressed like women. Once of the fathers got up to say a little prayer and told his personal story. After finally living his life as his true self and not receiving a Father’s Day card from his son for the past 18 years, he finally got a card this year. It included a gift certificate to receive a facial at the Woman’s Spa of LA.
An hour and forty five minutes into the service they were making the final announcements before communion. They were going to be having a lunch afterward to celebrate Junteenth. (Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day, is a holiday in the United States honoring African American heritage by commemorating the announcement of the abolition of slavery in the U.S. State of Texas in 1865.) They were going to be serving BBQ and fried chicken.
When communion started, I snuck out the back door.
